Okay, I’m going to cheat here a little bit. I rarely travel, so I’d say my FAVORITE place I’ve traveled to in the past 5 years has been Ketchikan, Alaska. This place struck a chord in my heart, creating a love for the ocean. I worked in Ketchikan in the summer on the docks, cleaning fish for people who stayed at the lodge.
Cruise ships came in all the time, and they were astoundingly HUGE! The entire one-road city was beautiful. Green, cloudy, with freezing water that just might kill you if you stay in it too long lol! Here are a few pictures from the summer.

Ketchikan looks like a beautiful place. Is the water freezing even in the summer?

So freezing! I thought my body would get used to the temperature, but it’s cold enough that it would rather go into shock. It’s definitely not water you want to swim in. But beautiful all the same.

It was way fun to work there for sure. I learned A LOT about salmon. I could identify what fish it was from both the outside and from the meat inside lol. Sorry, gross TMI.

You make Ketchikan sound lovely! My father worked there in the ’30s, and I grew up hearing about it.

That’s awesome! I had never heard about it until right before I went there for the work trip. Makes me want to live near the ocean.

I want to get there some day. I’d also like to fly on one of those planes that can land on the water, too. Great photos!
