A Few of My Favorite Things

wednesday blogging challenge

Books

Surprise surprise! Just kidding. I think that’s quite obvious XD. I love writing books, and I especially love reading books. Discovering new authors is fun for me, and reading an author I have read before is always a great experience.

I pretty much read anything under the moon. Fantasy, paranormal, historical, romance, you name it. Even better if it falls under the romance genre.

Music

Like books, I listen to everything under the moon. I don’t have a certain type, but rather I listen to what I’m in the mood for. Sometimes it’s country, sometimes it’s hip-hop or pop, and other times I’m in the mood for Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys. I love 80s pop as well, and I’m lucky my husband and I have the same taste in music! Mostly. Sometimes he plays 70s funk that I HATE and he does it just to laugh at my reaction.

Birds

I grew up bird-sessed. I was someone who took pictures of birds or bird tracks, only to find out that after the pictures were printed, they looked awful. Oh well.

My author logo is a swallow. There are a couple reasons I chose it. Reason one, I admit it’s my patronus lol! I was surprised when I took the Pottermore test to find that out, because it already held significance in one of my books. Another reason is because one of my characters in my books can transform into a swallow. Sure, I may always be #TeamDracula, but Oriel Covaci will always have my heart. A lot of my own personality traits and also what I find attractive in a guy are in book #4 in the Bloodborn Series. I can only hope I do it justice.

Puzzles

Extra points if it’s a Disney puzzle. I love doing puzzles. They may take me hours and hours, but it’s such a calming activity for me. I’m able to clear my head of burdensome thoughts and instead let my active imagination run wild.

Hot Chocolate

This may seem like a funny one, but I loveeeee hot chocolate. I’m lactose intolerant, so it doesn’t always agree with me in the powder form. But I found a brand called Crio Bru that is ground cocoa beans and you brew it like you would coffee. Add in International Delight’s Cold Stone Sweet Cream creamer (might I add that it’s lactose free), and I’m in heaven. So delicious.

I would love to hear about you. What are some of your favorite things?

  1. I also love birds too! Swallows are so pretty and it’s cool that you have incorporated that into your stories. I also have a wide range of music and of course, books are a necessary staple 😉 Great post, Sydney!

  2. Wait .. what? “But I found a brand called Crio Bru that is ground cocoa beans and you brew it like you would coffee.” OMG.

I adore puzzles, but sadly I’m the only one in my family who does…still, I do pull one out now and then and tackle it on my own.

  3. So, there’s a bird rescue operation that does a falconry show at the local renfaire, and it’s one of the shows that I always make a point to see even though I’ve seen it before, because the birds are just so impressive. I’m not much for puzzles myself, but I don’t question the appeal; but give a mug of hot chocolate, a comfy couch, and maybe a warm fire and a book and I will not move for hours.

    My answers are here.

  4. Oh, hot chocolate! I love it, too. This time of year is perfect for a cup to help warm you up. My husband does puzzles and although I try to get into doing them with him, I find them more frustrating than relaxing. I like the idea of doing one though. 🙂

  5. I love my critters, too. More the cat and dog versions, but a pet is a pet. I wish the men children had the same taste in music that I do, but they don’t and I’m forced to listen to my stuff (the beatles for one) when I’m on my own. Shrugs. It happens.

  6. I’m the only one in my house that does puzzles… and with a mischievous cat, I don’t dare set one up to leave. And .thanks for sharing about Criu Bru. My youngest daughter is lactose intolerant and I’ll have to be on the lookout for that for her~
