A very short read, but definitely worth it! I love the idea of going back in time and reliving some of your best memories, which happened to be a college trip in her twenties in this book. A fun read! And I definitely want a scoop of gelato now.

I had the pleasure of reading Letters and Lies, and I must say I enjoyed it quite a bit! I loved all the descriptions, details, and themes throughout the book. Louise’s heartache bled onto the pages, an intense hurt that I could feel as a reader.
When our heroine boards a train headed west where her ex-fiancé lives, she plans to force open the door that had closed to her after being jilted by the man. Only, when she meets his friend, Everett, on the train, her life begins to spiral out of control as she digs herself deeper into a hole with each lie she tells. What had begun as an innocent alias turned into something far more dangerous such as fraud and possibly even an accomplice in murder.
I absolutely loved the comparison of words to bullets throughout the story. Although Louise doesn’t need to shoot a gun, she has plenty of ammo on the tip of her tongue.
One of my favorite relationships in the story was the platonic one between Louise and Cook. Cook’s bark was as bad as his bite, but Louise never backed down, and although it took time (a lot of it), they came to eventually respect one another. The interactions between Louise and Cook show just how fearless she is and how far she is willing to go to make a good change in someone else’s life, or in this case, lots of people’s lives. Although her motive behind helping Lizzy with her restaurant had been selfish at first, it quickly turned into a desire to do good.
This book held me on the edge of my seat as I wondered what would happen next, what the reactions would be when people learned of her lies, and especially the mystery between her, Everett, Jim, and six powerful, heart-wrenching words: Don’t come. I can’t marry you.

Although short, I do think this story was very cute. I really enjoyed the romance between Alexei and Dixie. They balanced each other out pretty well. There was just enough romance to be satisfying, combined with an intriguing detective case.

When Robert Jamieson’s nemesis is released from prison, he sends his daughter to London to keep her safe from his clutches. Captain Jack escorts Vivian on his ship, but when feelings start to blossom between the two of them, it’s a boulder they can’t stop from rolling down a hill. She is sucked into Jack’s mission, into the very heart of danger. Full of secrets, danger, and love, Captain of My Heart is a book you won’t be able to put down once you pick it up.
This was one of those books that you feel sad at the end because it ended. I was pulled into the story and never wanted to come back out. The book was filled with intense scenes that had me holding my breath. I loved the interactions between Jack and Vivian. There was great chemistry between them. The slow burn romance was perfectly paced, with adorable scenes that had me laughing and smiling like an idiot.
I loved Vivian’s character. She’s feisty and can handle her own. She has the mouth of a sailor and an unyielding spirit always up for adventure. Only she would be brazen enough to punch a titled lord. Which, by the way, she did a few times. And not the same lord either.
What a great story! This is definitely one of my favorite books that I have read this year.

Bad luck (or would you say good luck?) hits the ice cream store, Vanilla with a Twist, when Tandy’s ice cream machine keeps breaking. With little money to spare, she can’t afford to hire someone to fix it. But when a handsome stranger walks in and offers to help for free… She can’t turn an offer like that down. However, her dedication to remaining single for the rest of her life becomes harder and harder when he lights her up like a firework.
This was a very well-rounded story, with a character so scarred from her past that letting someone new in is nearly an impossible task. You can’t help but to love Deacon Withers. He’s handsome, charming, respectful, and he fixes Tandy’s broken appliances for free. Is there a catch to his favors? The only thing he wants to catch is her heart.

Donna, thanks so much for being a guest on my blog! I recently finished reading your latest release, Elizabeth Barrett & Cupid’s Brooch, and I’m excited to learn more about it! Where did your inspiration come from when you wrote the book?
The idea was inspired by a group of business women. We were given this table topic: If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would you change?
At first I could only think of deleting my ex-husband. But how could I change him and still have my sons? My reply was some vague answer only…
The question grabbed my attention.

Fight or flight? Doesn’t exist for me. In fact, I am very familiar with the third “F” that someone conveniently left out of the saying: Freeze.
I startle easy. Waaaay easy. All you have to do is walk into the same room as me and I, kid you not, jump a foot off the ground and then freeze. Would I be thinking about a weapon during an apocalypse? Probably not. I’d just stare at the hoard of zombies coming toward me and my body wouldn’t obey me to run away.
How would I fare, you ask? I would quickly become a zombie and I would be the one trying to eat YOUR brains.

When a stalker decides to make Julie their target, she flees the city she lives in, driving aimlessly until she reaches Vermont. Unfortunately, despite her attempt to shake off her stalker, they find out where she has gone anyway.
Talk about a suspenseful book! I couldn’t stop reading and I really wanted to know what happened next. Oh my. Joe is adorable. There are no words to describe how much I love him! I seriously love a good gentleman sweetheart, and Joe fits the bill perfectly. And his German shepherd companion! Honestly, this book was great, and even made me squeal at the end. A perfect blend of suspense and romance, all wrapped up in a short novella.

From the very start, this book grabbed my attention and held it as I kept turning the pages. Bay of darkness has a great build-up to the final boss fight, with an ending that is incredibly satisfying. And who doesn’t need a good Neal in their life? I absolutely love his character. He was the kind of guy who is not only sweet and gentle, but he is also the kind of person you want by your side during a fight.
Secrets of the past were revealed one by one, each more exciting and complicated than the last. Then the secrets all came together nicely at the end in a very satisfying way. This was such a great read, and I’m definitely looking for more from this author!

Wow, I am so excited! Today is finally the day that Root Brew Float releases into the world. When I first heard of the call for submissions for the One Scoop or Two series, I was convinced I wasn’t going to give it a go at all. But then I thought, what the heck? Let’s see if I can do this thing!
So I sat down with the hubs and brainstormed some ideas. We came up with a contemporary witch story, and Root Brew Float was born! (After many failed scene ideas, a bit of rewriting, and more editing.)
Scoop of Sunshine: ~Peanut butter banana ice cream~ Clarence refers to it in the book as “happiness on a spoon”.
Huckleberry Love Potion: ~Sweet, fruity huckleberry ice cream~ It is what it sounds like! Eat a little bit of this, and you’ll fall head over heels in love.
Summer Nights: ~Chocolate ice cream with a caramel swirl~ Need a bit of help relaxing? Try a Summer Nights ice cream cone and let all your stresses melt away.
Root Brew Float: ~Root beer with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream~ Now, I can’t give this one away! You’ll have to read the book to find out more 😉
