New Release From Jeny Heckman

From the Author: Why I Chose Sunflowers in the Design of My Book

Sunflowers in the design of Dee’s Cornucopia

Greek Mythology is such a giving source of inspiration for many aspects of our modern life. The never-ending soap opera-like saga of Greek gods and Greek Goddesses was the inspiration of my fantasy paranormal Heaven & Earth Series. Dee’s Cornucopia is a novella telling the story of Dee Taylor, the beloved grandmother who started the Quest in our modern lives when she communed with Demeter the Greek Goddess of Harvest and Agriculture.

Dee is a grower! She can grow anything! She has a nursery in Hawaii called Dee’s Cornucopia and also happens to be a descendant of Demeter!

The sunflowers are the story of unconditional love! Dee lost everybody she loved the most. She lost her father at a very young age. She lost her beloved husband soon after they married. She lost her beloved mother and later her only child! She loved them unconditionally! Out of all this tragedy comes a story of love for Dee’s grandson Finn Taylor, the protagonist of the Sea Archer, book 1 of the Heaven & Earth Series.

The Cornucopia is one of the only constants in Dee’s life. It is her passion! She loves to grow flowers, plants, and fruits. She loves to grow sunflowers!

Guest Author Patricia McAlexander

Shadows of Doubt book
Despite warnings, should she take a chance on him?

What first got you interested in the thriller genre?

I first became interested in the thriller genre as a teenager when I read the 1957 Floods of Fear by John and Ward Hawkins serialized in The Saturday Evening Post. Mixing thrill and romance, it inspired me to write a short story at the time, and that story, much changed and expanded, became, many decades later, my first Wild Rose novel, Stranger in the Storm

Thanks for joining me on my blog today, Shirley! I absolutely love your cover for Middle Agish, and the concept sounds so interesting. This is your first book, correct? What are five things readers need to know about Sunny Chanel, your character?

1. Sunny’s husband announces he wants a divorce on their anniversary. Since she’s never hung around where she isn’t wanted, Sunny leaves her husband behind in Paris and starts over in New Haven, Connecticut. She goes back to school at age fifty to get her master’s in teaching.

2. She’s shoved into online dating by her best friend’s boyfriend, who thinks he’s helping her. She and her good friend have a dating contest to see who’ll be the first to date 25 men. There’s even a prize.

3. Her first online date throws a mushroom at the waiter and Sunny runs out of the restaurant.

4. Sunny lives in New Haven. I grew up there, lived and worked in New Haven as a teacher for many years.

5. Sunny is a fictional character, but bits and pieces of me are intertwined in her story. It’s a first novel, after all. Honestly, I couldn’t tell you what’s real and what’s not anymore.

An Interview with Debby Grahl

Can Dillon and Diana elude a killer while their newfound love grows?

Hi Debby, and welcome! I’m excited to have you on my blog today, talking about your new release, Mountain Blaze. How did you get interested in writing fiction?

This began at a young age. I have a disease of the retina called Retinitis Pigmentosa which causes gradual vision loss. I lost the ability to read in my early twenties, but even when I had sight, seeing the printed word was always difficult for me. Reading a book would take me twice as long as  a person with normal sight. I became frustrated with this and began to make up my own stories. I recall entertaining my girlfriends on our way to school, by telling them my latest story. Today, they’re some of my biggest fans.

Welcome Darcy Carson to My Blog!

Thanks for visiting my blog today, Darcy! It’s great to have you here. Let’s get to know you a bit better. Do you have a specific writing routine or process?

I’m a pantser by nature. I write romance, so, of course, there’s always a happy ending and that’s what I write toward. I usually have a beginning. It’s that darn middle that is soooo hard.

What comes first, character or plot?

Probably character. I like to find out what the characters stories are.

She wants to help them as they deal with the sudden, overwhelming changes in their lives. As she becomes friends with the pair and they spend time together, she gets a great story idea based on one of the boy’s memories of his parents. Welcome Guest Jean Grant to My Blog!

A little about this trilogy…

Each book is a standalone, but they can be read in or out of order. The trilogy spans 1263 – 1322 A.D. from Vikings to Scottish Independence to upheaval in England. Each story tells a tale of a MacCoinneach family member “gifted but afflicted” with a mystical ability that comes at a cost: to heal but lose your own breaths in return, to feel auras/lifebloods but to feel others’ pain, and to see the future but be unable to prevent the visions unless refraining from touch. Conquering Norse, Scottish lore, Ancient mystics, and invading English…the trilogy has a bit of everything. Can our mystical family hone their gifts for good, escape curses, discover mercy, find home, and find love?

Interview with Author John Selby

Thanks for joining me today, John! Let’s get to know you and your writing a little bit better. How did you get interested in writing fiction?

I started writing in 7th grade.  At the time, not only was I being bullied mercilessly, but I was also very bored during classes.  So I started writing during classes and breaks.  I was a Star Trek fan, so naturally, I created my own version.  I carried around a large loose-leaf notebook with me wherever I went in school.  Over the next two years, I think I wrote about 600 pages in tiny handwriting, single-spaced.  It would probably be well over 1,000 pages if printed in a book.  I think I still have it somewhere, but I doubt even I can read my handwriting from then.
