Book Review of Immortal Dawn by Julie Thorpe

My Review

“I would never take the sun for granted. It was precious to someone like me who had been born into darkness.”

When vampire, Amiria, learns that the king wants to kill her in order to rule over the world, she runs to protect not only herself, but to also keep the entire world’s population safe. But is running only delaying the inevitable? Is all her effort in vain? Can she follow her heart and still protect the man she loves?

Immortal Dawn is a book about love, trust, and sacrifice. Even in the darkest of dark, a small flicker of hope remains and can conquer all. The story was enjoyable, and there were great descriptions throughout the book. Amiria was a very interesting character. The sacrifices she made really showed just how far she was willing to go for others.

Cover Reveal of Bloodbond!

I am so excited to finally be able to reveal my cover for my upcoming release, Bloodbond! It’s the 2nd book in the Bloodborn series, a story about learning to love and trust again, about overcoming prejudice and becoming the person you were meant to be.

Blurb

Zach is confident that Laurel is the vampire for him, but can he break through her icy walls and convince her he’s the mate she’s been waiting for?

Book Review of Bear with Me

My Review

I loved this book! The writing was great, the story spectacular, and the characters were interesting. This book is unique in that it has a heroine who has sensory processing disorder. Alison can hear the buzzing of fluorescent lights and restaurant coolers. She can’t feel sensations on her skin as much as others can. And textures in her mouth are difficult to cope with, which has her sorting her food before she eats.

I love Alison’s special gift. Her tears make pumpkins grow. Her touch gives life to plants. Her power grows and heals, which is a strong theme throughout the book when it comes to family. The story focuses on family relationships, about rekindling love in a marriage and putting family above work, above career goals, above your own needs.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the Strawberry Shifters Series and finding out what happens next!

News! Just Submitted Book #3 in the Bloodborn Series!

tree carving

I just submitted book #3 to my editor in the Bloodborn Series! So nervous! I’m crossing my fingers it will get accepted. The story is about…drum roll please…Dracula! It’s his and Elisabeta’s love story, which takes place 1000 years prior to Bloodborn. Out of the 6 books (and yes they are all written, now I just need to get them through the publishing process!) Dracula’s story is one of my favorites.

Onto other news, #2 in the series, Bloodbond, is seriously “this” close to getting a release date! I’m so excited to release it into the wild, but nervous all the same. Stay tuned for a cover reveal! I am so in love with the cover. It’s a perfect rendition of what I have imagined for the story, down to the red nettle flowers in the background, which are the only flowers that can grow in Ichor Knell due to a lack of sunlight.

Book Review of Bay of Darkness

My Review

From the very start, this book grabbed my attention and held it as I kept turning the pages. Bay of darkness has a great build-up to the final boss fight, with an ending that is incredibly satisfying. And who doesn’t need a good Neal in their life? I absolutely love his character. He was the kind of guy who is not only sweet and gentle, but he is also the kind of person you want by your side during a fight.

Secrets of the past were revealed one by one, each more exciting and complicated than the last. Then the secrets all came together nicely at the end in a very satisfying way. This was such a great read, and I’m definitely looking for more from this author!

Release Day for Root Brew Float!

Wow, I am so excited! Today is finally the day that Root Brew Float releases into the world. When I first heard of the call for submissions for the One Scoop or Two series, I was convinced I wasn’t going to give it a go at all. But then I thought, what the heck? Let’s see if I can do this thing!

So I sat down with the hubs and brainstormed some ideas. We came up with a contemporary witch story, and Root Brew Float was born! (After many failed scene ideas, a bit of rewriting, and more editing.)

Scoop of Sunshine: ~Peanut butter banana ice cream~ Clarence refers to it in the book as “happiness on a spoon”.
Huckleberry Love Potion: ~Sweet, fruity huckleberry ice cream~ It is what it sounds like! Eat a little bit of this, and you’ll fall head over heels in love.
Summer Nights: ~Chocolate ice cream with a caramel swirl~ Need a bit of help relaxing? Try a Summer Nights ice cream cone and let all your stresses melt away.

Book Review of Monster Hunter International

My Review

This. Book. Was. Hilarious. Monster Hunter International just won 2020. Hands down.

When Owen Pitt gets attacked by his boss, who happens to be a werewolf, he is thrown into a world he had never known existed, a world where monsters exist. After killing the werewolf with his bare hands, he is recruited into MHI, or Monster Hunter International. Between his hilarious quips, getting his butt handed to him on more than one occasion, and the best action scenes I have ever read, I am blown away by this book.

Getting into the mind of Owen was highly amusing and had me cracking up every other page. The writing flows so incredibly well. The book has the most incredible fight scenes. The monsters were terrifying. As in it takes at least a hundred bullets to put one monster down. Perhaps a few grenades. And don’t get me started on master vampires…

Thank you, Larry Correia, for writing such an amazing book. You are now one of my favorite authors, and I can’t wait to read more!

5-Star-Review of Root Brew Float From Readers’ Favorite!

I’m so excited to have gotten a 5-star-review from Readers’ Favorite! Check out the review below, and pre-order your copy here!

Reviewed By Rabia Tanveer for Readers’ Favorite

Root Brew Float: One Scoop or Two by Sydney Winward is the story of a witch as she faces the dilemma of a lifetime. Josephine Brevil is not your run of the mill witch. She was there when the Salem Witch Trials happened; she survived it all and lived to tell the tale. Regardless to say, she is very careful about her magic and who she shares her powers with. She doesn’t like to share her private information with anyone and she would like to keep it that way. However, when she is tasked to go to Massachusetts to handle a paranormal activity, she wasn’t expecting this place to change her life. She meets the charming and devilishly handsome Clarence and he makes her question everything. She starts falling in love with a human and she cannot afford to do that. Loving a human comes with a choice: love or her magic. Which will she choose?

Oh boy, was this a fun story to read. Quick, incredibly detailed and well-paced, I loved Josephine’s story and her reactions. She is such a fun character; she is fiery and feisty, she isn’t afraid to speak her mind and that is awesome. I loved her responses, her dialogues were incredibly fun, and the way she interacted with Clarence was so smooth. Sydney Winward set the right pace to keep Root Brew Float moving without rushing anything. She gave Josephine and Clarence enough time to experience their feelings, enjoy their relationship and grow as characters that added to the story instead of taking away from it. I really enjoyed this entertaining and fun story and hope there is more because Josephine has the potential to become a great protagonist for supernatural/mystery stories.

Character Art: Alavara Elroris

Alavara Elroris

I recently entered a raffle for character art, and I was one of the winners! @ARTmmkay did an amazing job at capturing Alavara’s essence. She is a deadly assassin, a dark elf forced to carry out her father’s wishes, even if it means becoming the mate of the vampire king to stop a war in its tracks.

However, Jesper Degore refuses to have an elf on the throne. His one condition to take her as his mate is that she must be turned into a vampire like him.
